The 7th Grade Reading Comprehension Exam is designed to assess students’ ability to understand, analyze, and interpret grade‑level texts. Aligned with middle school literacy standards, the exam measures essential reading skills needed for academic success across subjects.

Students will read a variety of informational and literary passages, including excerpts from fiction, nonfiction, and real‑world texts. They will respond to multiple‑choice and short‑response questions that evaluate their ability to:

  • Identify main ideas and supporting details

  • Draw inferences and conclusions

  • Analyze vocabulary in context

  • Understand author’s purpose and tone

  • Interpret figurative language and text structure

  • Cite evidence from the text to support answers

The exam encourages critical thinking and close reading, helping educators evaluate students’ reading development and readiness for more advanced coursework. Results can be used to guide instruction, identify areas for additional support, and track progress over time.

This assessment provides a reliable measure of each student’s reading comprehension skills and supports ongoing literacy growth in the classroom.
