I taught junior high and 9th grade students, working with learners across the spectrum—from remedial to gifted and talented. This experience has shaped a comprehensive approach to instruction, ensuring that every student can access lessons tailored to their needs. My library of lesssons reflect this expertise. Lessons that range from basic fundamentals to advanced concepts leading to college readiness. These resources have been successfully marketed to classroom teachers, home school educators, and parents nationwide.

Hard data shows that many students enter middle school already performing below genuine grade-level standards in grammar and reading comprehension. These gaps, if not addressed, can compromise future academic success. I am dedicated to helping parents support their middle school children in achieving higher levels of academic mastery in grammar, reading, and writing—skills that form the foundation for success in high school, college, and beyond.

At Beyond Words Learning is here to provide Teachers, Parents, and Home Educators with practical advice, lessons, and diagnostic tools that help students catch up, get ahead, and even prepare for college. We also have a diagnostic test on middle school math. We have comprehensive literacy tools proven to have worked for teachers and students in their classrooms. My mission is simple: to close achievement gaps and help students thrive - today and in the future.

My Story

Anne and I bring decades of experience in education, journalism, and public policy to help families and educators prepare children for academic success. My career spans community-based journalism as an editor and publisher for weekly and daily newspapers, and leadership as president of a Texas-based nonprofit research organization focused on public education and property tax policy.

With deep expertise in understanding standardized testing and what state and national results truly mean for students, I can help guide parents and educators through the complexities of academic performance and help navigate the red tape of school districts and public agencies.

Anne and I share a passion for education. Together, we raised three children who graduated from university—two were National Merit finalists—and now thrive in professional careers. One daughter, a certified teacher, successfully homeschools her own children.
